Why cotton, not a synthetic knit

Most mattress covers are a polyester or synthetic microfibre knit, chosen because it is cheap, uniform and easy to print on. It also traps heat and holds moisture against the sleeper.

Organic cotton moves air and moisture instead of holding it, which is why it stays comfortable across a full night rather than warming up under you.

What GOTS actually certifies

GOTS is the Global Organic Textile Standard, and it applies to the whole processing chain rather than the raw fibre alone.

That means the dyeing, finishing and stitching stages are covered too - so a certified cover cannot carry a chemical finish that the fibre certification alone would have missed.
